For more than 20 years, Pondoro has lived by a core value ” to take care of our guests and staff members.” This value guides us as we face the difficult challenge of responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19), which the World Health Organisation declared as a pandemic.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to the people who have been affected by this unprecedented event and we appreciate the healthcare workers, local communities, and governments around the world who are on the front line working to contain this coronavirus. Please know that we are vigilantly monitoring the COVID-19 situation and have precautions in place to try and ensure a healthy stay at Pondoro.

Pondoro’s health and safety measures are designed to address a broad spectrum of viruses, including COVID-19, and cover everything from hand washing hygiene and cleaning product specifications to guest room and common area cleaning procedures.

  • Guest Rooms: We use cleaning and disinfecting protocols to clean rooms after guests depart and before the next guest arrives, with particular attention paid to high-touch items.
  • Public Spaces: We have increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in public spaces, with a focus on reception, lounge and bar, door handles, public bathrooms and even room keys.
  • Back of House: In the spaces where staff members work “behind the scenes,” Pondoro has increased the frequency of cleaning and focusing on high-touch areas like the laundry room and staff office as well as staff accommodation.

At Pondoro we fully understands the fears of travelling during these uncertain times. We want Pondoro to be a place where guests can book with confidence even if the planned safari to Africa are now hanging in the balance due to circumstances beyond all of our control. We have therefore amended our cancellation policy and we endeavour to handle all guest enquiries on a case by case basis. Opportunity will also be provided to postpone your bookings to a later date without any penalty. We sincerely hope that this will provide some level of comfort with regards to your existing/potential booking at Pondoro. Our flexible terms will be maintained until international travel has returned to normal.
