After unsuccessfully trying to find the lions during the afternoon drive we stopped at Singwe Big dam for sundowners. We found the whole pride making their way towards the dam barely 200meters after we got going again.
On the 6th of September we found the York pride on a baby giraffe kill. Andries, my tracker, followed the tracks and walked right into them. As always the Mother Lion charged and she seems to be getting grumpier with old age. The pride settled down quickly after I picked him up again and we […]
I took this photos of a male leopard early evening at Hamerkop dam on the 3rd of September. If you look carefully you will see the wound on his right flank which was probably caused during a territorial fight with another male.
Rul and his guests photographed early in the morning at an elephant sighting on koppie road on the 27th of August.
The highlight of the past 3 weeks were without a doubt the mating of 2 leopards on Impalabos East. We found fresh leopard tracks at Elephanten tranken on the afternoon drive of the 26th of August and Andries, my tracker, followed the tracks until he reported that he heard the growling of leopards mating in […]
There is a reason this Lodge was just voted into the top 100 spots in Africa to stay.. I really can’t rave enough, this was our last stop on a 3 week tour and we finished it in style. Pondoro is located in the Balule Private Reserve just outside of the Kruger gates, on the […]
Eric, Shaun and their guests enjoying a sighting of the 2 dominant male lions early morning on the 16th of August. They fed on something big the night before as you can see from the size of their stomachs.
We saw a breeding herd of elephants on the 14th of August that was very relaxed and everyone managed to get some good photos.
We followed up on alarm calls of impala on the evening of the 13th of August and found Mazinyo, one of the dominant male lions of the area, also coming to inspect what the noise was all about. He searched and sniffed around for a while until we suddenly saw him picking up an impala […]
We found the York pride again on the morning of the 12th after they had disappeared for about a week. It was clear that they were still hunting and we decided to follow them for a while which turned out to be a wize decision as they killed a young kudu shortly afterwards. Big Boy, […]
I took this image at the elephant carcass. The elephant apparently died after a fight with another bull. The York lion pride was at the carcass for about a week.
We found Mazinyo on the morning of the 17th of July feeding on a warthog. Imagine my surprize when I drove round a bush and saw Big Boy feeding on another warthog. As I drove away we saw the termite mound from which they dug the warthogs out of. .
On the afternoon safari on the 8th of July we found a breeding herd of elephants walking slowly towards Xibejuane dam. I decided to go to the dam and wait there for the herd to arrive so that we could make sure that we were in a perfect position for taking photos. The dam was […]
Once again, thanks for your hospitality and welcome. Really enjoyed the tranquillity of the Bateleur camp. Big thanks to all the staff and especially Eric who made the game drives so rewarding. Great encounters with a breeding herd of elephants, the lions and most notably the black rhino which charged our vehicle (fortunately he pulled […]
The females of the York pride made an impala kill while Shaun and Rul were following them through the bush during the evening game drive. The one male then chased them off and started to feed when some of the cubs arrived and tried to join in. As you can see the male did not […]
