As all of you know we love to entertain our guests on special days like Valentine’s, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. This year Robbie, Lize and the staff decided to do it in style by going back in time for New Year’s Eve….. to the roaring 1920’s.
It all started off with our flappers meeting guests as they returned from another amazing game drive. Then all the guests went to glitz themselves up before grabbing a prop or two at our lounge. Now it was time to have a drink, be it a Mooretini or a Gin Ricky which was perfectly poured by our Gangsters Rul, Solly and Marius. As F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote in his novel The Beautiful and Damned, “Here’s to alcohol, the rose coloured glasses of life.”
It was a very classy affair with lights and ribbon hanging from the Wildfig Trees on the deck, feathers in glass bottles, and crystals and pearls everywhere. It really felt like we were re-enacting scenes from The Great Gatsby!
Our executive chef Lize, skilfully aided by Percy and Tsakani in the kitchen, made an exquisite 8 course meal for our guests. Starting with Champagne Jelly and ending with Chocolate Millionaire’s with a Nut Brittle, Vanilla Ice Cream and a Salted Caramel Sauce.
After dinner as the last minutes of 2018 ticked by all of our guests gathered at the top part of the deck where they were presented with glasses of MCC as the count down started ….
Pondoro would just like to thank all of our guests and staff for all the support throughout this past year. Without you we would not be where we are today.
We wish you and your loved ones a Prosperous and Wonderful 2019!
