Making sure that everyone gets a taste of the Cape's finest

Pondoro held a hugely successful wine tasting on the 13th of October during our sundowner stop while out on the afternoon safari drive. Ingrid Motteux, owner of Wine Wise, and one of the judges of Platter’s Wine Guide came through to train some of our staff on wine etiquette and she also conducted the wine tasting held at Pride Rock. It has been a pleasure to host her at Pondoro, and all the staff as well as our enthusiastic guests learned a lot from her very professional and informative presentations.

We could not have asked for a better setting than Pride Rock and Lize, Vanessa, Jannie and America created a beautiful table with all the added extras that one could imagine. They set the tables under the gentlest of breezes with distant clouds building over the Drakensberg adding to a beautiful sunset. Half an hour later the breeze gave birth to a mini hurricane, but nothing could dampen the spirits of eager guests thirsty for knowledge and a sip of the best that our winelands can offer. A wine tasting is about wine after all and Ingrid went out of her way with a wide selection of fantastic wines from some of the best wineries in South Africa.

SO thank you very much Ingrid for not only a very informative wine tasting, but also a great adventure amongst some thunder, lightning and a bit of wind under the great African skies!
