A video taken by Ranger Sam of a big herd of elephants swimming at Nyari dam, Pondoro on the 22nd of December 2015. Best time to see this activity is during the hottest time of the day and mostly in summer. They love water and are very good swimmers. It is a real treat to witness this kind of behavior and their excitement and joyous antics are infectious and often humorous. The advantage of going on a safari in an open safari cruiser becomes apparent when watching a scene like this as the noise of elephants having fun and slushing water really adds to the whole experience and creates memories that will last forever.
