Rul, one of our guides at Pondoro always seem to video some real gems while on safari with guests as you can see from this footage on the 5th of May 2014. Black rhinos are not only extremely rare but also notoriously short of fuse. All our guides have the best training and years of experience ( a minimum of 15 years experience is now required to become a guide or tracker at Pondoro ) in dealing with wildlife. Guides are not only chosen for their bush knowledge but we are looking for a real affinity for the bush and its creatures when deciding to employ someone. Animals and their wellbeing always come first, even before that of guests. This might sound like a contradiction of what we do, but our believe is that by looking and respecting the animals, guests will enjoy a much better safari experience as animals get more tolerant of our presence in their midst.
