A video taken by Ranger Rul on the 18th of January 2016 of an elephant bull scratching himself by rubbing against a termite mound. Elephants love rolling in mud which is not only good for the skin and helps in cooling them down, but ticks also get stuck in this sticky mud. After taking a mud bath elephants would make a beeline towards the nearest rubbing post which can take the form of logs, tree stumps, rocks or even termite mounds. Scratching themselves against these objects does not only provide relief from an irritating itch, but also aid in getting rid of these nasty disease carrying parasites.
