Sam, one of our guides, took this video on the 14th of September 2015 while following a male leopard called Chavaluthu as he was marking his territory. He is slowly enlarging his territory by pushing further and further into the territory of his father (Watsakile). I have seen them fighting with each other about 3 years ago and the much younger Chavaluthu got taught a lessen that day. We have since enjoyed several sightings of the 2 walking side by side, parallel to each other, while drooling saliva and growling incessantly, clearly very agitated but also making a very deliberate attempt to keep some sort of distance between themselves in order to avoid another fight. Watsakile is bigger, but even he must surrender against the old enemy that is called Time who is definitely on Chavaluthu’s side.
